Review of media product
What have we learnt from feedback:
The lip syncing is to a good quality but there is not enough of it or it is not obvious enough.
The video was enjoyable to watch and some found it humorous which was partly intentional.
We used a good variety of shots and camera angles this means that the film had a more professional look.
When edited I created the final edit but this was then rearranged into a more awkward sequence, so this is not the best this cut could have been.
How did we use media technology:
When doing the research we mainly used the internet to look at past releases and therefore work out what aspects proffesionals use in there edits, this enabled us to make our product look as close to theirs as possible. The internet also enabled us to see what advertising tactics that companies were using and then modify and adapt it to our product. When filming we used standard quality camcorders which means that the quality of the footage was never going to be amazing but its all we had. The editing software used was Adobe final cut pro this is a widely used and very high quality editing software and has been used in many feature length films. I have been learning to use this programe for a while now and it is becoming easier and easier to use as you learn the little tips and tricks for making the edits flow smoother and look more proffesional.
What have we learnt that we plan to use again:
The first new skill we have learnt is lip syncing this is obviously needed for this task.

How effective is the combination and your main product and ancillary texts?
the combination between the two is a very successful combination. this is because their are photo of the artist on both the advert and the DVD cover. this is because it helps the audience recognise the artist quicker and helps encourage them to buy the product. The eye catching imagery and font also helps the promotion of this video as the audience will stop to read the advert then hopefully proceed to buying the product that has a cover to match the advert to ensure that the audience knows which product to purchase.
in what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?
one way in which we do this is the usage of different locations like what happens in the real video. this makes the video a lot more realistic and enjoyable as it can be seen as a successful video cover. also the movement the actor has is very similar to the movement that is being shown in the real plan b she said video.
Magazine Advert: She Said
Whilst creating the advert I had to keep the theme in mind using black and white and the same font, this means that the audience will be able to associate with the album cover from the advert and are more likely to remember and therefore pick up the album. Again the theme has worked well as it is simple and keeps things straight to the point. The modern looking font is to keep the feel of the media up to date and relevant.
Advert- She said
one thing when creating an advert it is important to make it eye catching and attractive to the viewer. for example, we are using a black background with white writing so it stands out. its also important to have some big font in their to also make sure it jumps out at the readers and so they can also see what is being said. say when the product is out this may include an actual release date or may just state "out now". images must also be used to make sure the audience does not get board when reading it.

Album covers
The way that the artists cover is portrayed has a massive impact on how the album is marketed to the public. for example, the brand is is what is recognised all around the world and it is how the artist sells his/ her merchandise. this has an impact on the target market, so the brand helps to decide who the product is being at.
DVD/Album Cover
Album artwork is usually based upon a central theme and this makes the audience recognize the artists merchandise. When developing the artwork the artist must take into consideration current themes and fashions to keep the artist looking upto date.
With Plan B I am on keeping the covers simple using a black and white theme this gives across an image of sophistication and class, this will involve the audiences as it gives off a professional and stylish theme that people would like to be involved with rather than a tacky, cheesy cover that will go out of date very quickly.
Black and white is a catchy clean design and crossed with a clean but eye catching font should create a very recognizable and viewable theme. This crossed with a catchy logo should make a profesional looking cover.

Mood Board
^ Geri Halliwells - Its raining men
(inspiration for the dance studio)
Screenshots
This is the layout of the edit as you can see the cuts are on the beat and n the most recognisable parts of the song the cuts increase there frequency to represent an important part. I used a sharpen filter and a colour correction filter to improve the look of the footage and to stop it looking dull.
Marking Criteria
- Cuts on beat.- Done well.
- Video appropriate to genre.- Video suited well to the genre.
- Change in locations.- we managed to get different locations in and used 3 in the video, and dropped the other one. this is useful as it gives us a choice.
- Effective lip syncing.- the actor lip synced really well considering we did not get full access to the lyrics.
- Variety of shot types.- we managed to fill a variety of shot types including Mid-shots and close ups etc.
- Narrative.- completed well.
- Use of mise-en-scene.
- Good quality of sound and images.
- Use of transitions and effects.
- Performance.- performed to the best of the actors ability and looked like the performance fitted in well with the music.

Analysis of fillming
One problem that we had was the weather. for example, we planned to start out filming outside on the field then carry on filing in different locations around the college site. but unfortunately due to weather being rainy and thunder and lightening we could not do this so we had to make other plans for our intro and film around different locations inside and whilst moving around trying not to get the camera wet. Fortunately for us we managed to do so.
Another issue that we had is that in only one of the locations that we went to had a computer where our actor can see the lyrics but we managed to jot them down on a piece of paper so he could memorise it of that and still lip-sink really well. The main thing that we got right when were filming is that we managed to get all of the footage that we needed to make a good music intro video.

Editing
We have planned to edit our music video using the conventions of most videos, this includes a change of scenery and background and also a change of outfit, despite this the same character remains singing throughout.
We are also planning on adding effects to the footage to make it look more interesting and to make it different. This includes things like changing the colour to an effect such as sepia. Despite this we are unaware of how it will look and whether or not we'll use it.
Furthermore, we used a range of different camera angles during our filming so that we can then arrange them whilst editing.
